As the release date for The Bone Carver approaches, I thought it would be a good idea to share some of the inspiration for the book. I have a ton of extras on The Night Weaver Series page (if you’ve been snooping around on the site, I’m sure you’ve found the extras by now), but I realized not everyone snoops. So, here are some of the things that helped me to get into the right mind set to write The Bone Carver.
The Bone Carver Inspiration Board
I’m always browsing around Pinterest for ideas (whether it’s for personal reasons or to get some writing inspiration), which is why I have so many boards! Some of my boards are secret, though, but The Bone Carver’s board has been public for a while now. I do need to update it with some other pics I’ve found. In the meantime, enjoy the visuals. 🙂
The Bone Carver Playlist
Music plays a vital role in my writing process. Without it, I’d just not get the mood right, I think. So, I’ve been making my playlists on Spotify public as the release dates come closer, because why not? Click on the image to be transported right to The Bone Carver’s playlist.
Main Research for Creating The Bone Carver
A lot of research goes into my books, and there’s no better way to do research than to actually read other books. Now, I know some of the topics presented in The Bone Carver may not be psychologically sound, but this is fiction and I have taken some creative liberties. Sue me. Crafting a villain isn’t just BAM! done. Oh, no. Creating a memorable villain is a tricky feat, which requires a lot of research.
The following books helped me to find the perfect balance for Golvath:
The Bone Carver
For a small New England town, Shadow Grove has an uncanny ability to attract the worst kind of trouble. Not that the residents are too concerned about the various horrors living among them.
As the leaves change color and the weather grows colder, a foul presence is making itself known by leaving peculiar gifts for the students of Ridge Crest High. At first the presents seem harmless—and a rash of accidents seem coincidental—but when seniors Rachel Cleary and her Scottish cousin, Dougal Mackay, find a boneless body in the boiler room, things take an ominous turn.
Something vicious is on the loose in Shadow Grove, and not knowing whether Orion Nebulius will ever return, Rachel has very little hope of anyone making it out alive.
Voila!
I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into The Bone Carver and that you’re as excited as I am for the release as I am. Check back again for more exciting looks into The Night Weaver Series.
Until next time,
