What’s New Wednesday #11: It’s My Birthday Week! 🎂🎈

Full disclaimer: This Wednesday it’s all about ME. With my 31st birthday coming up this Friday, I thought it was a great time to celebrate everything that is … *drum roll* … Monique. 🙂 I’m only going to turn 31 once, so why not?

Let’s start this Wednesday off with some pictures of me through the years:

As you can see, I’m almost always barefoot. My husband still calls me his “barefoot bride”. Guess why? *giggles* Yes, I’m the type of woman who kicks off her shoes straight after the wedding ceremony and runs around in the mud like some wild child. I regret nothing. LOL

What else is super Monique? Well, all my likes and obsessions, I guess.

So, let’s get into what I’m doing this week to celebrate my birthday with this Wednesday’s obsessions.

Last week I read quite a few books, most of them classics I didn’t even intend to read, and also finished up the spectacular upcoming novel by Todd Keisling, called Devil’s Creek. There is no Goodreads page for that one yet, but write it down and look for it sometime next year. Speaking of Goodreads, remember to check out my Goodreads page to see what I’ve been reading.

This week, I hope the books on my nightstand will be just as wonderful!

As we get closer to Halloween, I’m starting to see a theme in my reading material—and the tales are just getting darker and darker …

First off, Black Magic by Marjorie Bowen, which is a classic occult tale revolving around the rise and fall of the Antichrist. I have never read it before, but I have set the bar high for this one. Next, Lois the Witch by Elizabeth Gaskell, which is a novella about the Salem Witch Trials—another horror classic. Then I’m fast-forwarding to some new YA horror releases, both of which I’m going into blind: Here There Are Monsters by Amelinda Berube (that cover sold me) and The Missing Season by Gillian French (I’m thinking missing kids?).

The last book on my list this week is one I’ve been meaning to read for years. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read anything by Amy Lukavics yet. I have almost all her books on my Kindle, yes, but I’ve never had the time until now. So, Amy—if you’re reading this post—I apologize, and I’m going to rectify this oversight, starting with Daughters onto Devils.

This time of year, Husband and I usually start listening to some audiobooks at night, and we settled on The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. We’ve listened to about an hour already, and I love George Guidall’s voice. Definitely get your hands on it if you haven’t listened to it already.

Wrong Answers Only Interviews

I don’t know if you guys noticed, but I have a new segment up, called: Wrong Answers Only. This is where I interview authors and they have to answer with wrong answers, which really makes for an entertaining read. These interviews will be posted on Saturdays, and I already have a few other authors lined up to play along. 🙂

The Night Weaver News

The marketing has already started for The Night Weaver‘s launch on October 15th, 2019, and it’s been going exceptionally well. Thank you to everyone who’s already pre-ordered a copy of The Night Weaver! For those who’re still on the fence, here are some trade reviews that’ve recently come in:

Balloons and Cake and More The Night Weaver

I’m not really into balloons, but I’ll never say no to cake. 🙂 So, that’s it for this week’s What’s New Wednesday. Another quiet-ish week, I know, but we did paint the living room this past Sunday and part of the outside walls of our apartment, so it has been kinda busy. Weirdly enough, I feel rested, so much so that I maybe want to start working on Book 3 in The Night Weaver Series sooner rather than later. I just have a few more things to take care of before that can happen, but then it’s me, my laptop, and a nice jug of ice tea (I’m trying to cut back on the coffee a bit).

Have a wonderful week!
Monique
